27/12/2023

It is that festive time of year, and once again it is time for the annual ocean liner inspired Christmas lunch. This year, all the dishes were specifically chosen from Cabin Class menus from the 1930s
🔸 Soup: Potage St. Cloud, served with Manzanilla sherry (R.M.S. Ascania, 1935)

🔸 Fish: Halibut Grenobloise, served with Saint-Véran (S.S. Montcalm, 1933)

🔸 Punch: Sorbet aux [sic] Fraise (R.M.S. Franconia, 1930)

🔸 Main: "Tournedos" of beef, St. Laurent, with Pont Neuf potatoes and Brussels sprouts, served with Haut-Médoc (M.V. Georgic, 1935)

🔸 Dessert: Washington Pudding, served with port (S.S. Westernland, 1932)

Cabin Liners on Patreon

As we approach the Festive season and the end of 2023, I would like to thank all those who have supported Cabin Liners by liking, following, and engaging with our content on Instagram and Facebook. Looking forward to the year ahead, I am looking for new ways to expand the website and offer additional content to all of our wonderful enthusiasts for ocean travel in the 1920s and 1920s.

I am in the process of establishing a creator profile of Patreon. This will provide a way for followers to offer a small token of financial support for Cabin Liners, in exchange for additional content and early access to our articles. There are currently two membership tears offered on Patreon:

Tourist Class

The basis of a new travel market in the 1920s and 1930s, Tourist-Third Cabin (later Tourist Class) allowed shipping lines to adapt to the decline in migrant traffic, opening ocean travel to students, tourists, and holiday makers.
Similarly you are the backbone of keeping Cabin Liners in business, opening up access to patron-only posts and content and early access to articles.

Cabin Class

Classic and affordable comfort, Cabin Class gave the discerning inter-war traveller access to the best class of travel aboard many smaller ships at a rate comparable to that of second class aboard the larger transatlantic liners.
Similarly, joining our Cabin Class manifest provides a little extra benefit. In addition to patron-only posts and content and early access to articles, you will also receive an exclusive welcome letter as a thank you, followed by an exclusive postcard and/or letter every six months.
We will use the Patreon revenue to support site hosting, software and font licensing, and other administrative expenses associated with running the website. Of course, Patreon offers something a little bit extra. All of our regular content will continue, along with an increasing expansion of the website to include more 'Step Aboard' tours, blog articles, and additional resources.
Support Us on Patreon
Thank you once again for all your support. I like forward to growing Cabin Liners and sharing the world of 1920s/30s ocean travel with you in 2024!
